In 1996, on the 10th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the Austrian environmental organization GLOBAL2000 launched a campaign to aid children who had been affected by the catastrophe and were receiving treatment in children’s hospitals in Kharkiv, Ukraine. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once launched, the initiative was highly successful and unstoppable. Christoph Otto, the ideological mastermind behind the project, rallied support from Austrian donors to help those in need. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What started as a single initiative soon turned into a lifeline for children with severe chronic illnesses, orphans, and those from families facing difficult circumstances, particularly in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization’s focus has expanded beyond Chernobyl survivors to encompass children who require medical attention or support in general.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
