25 Children from Ukraine – Now in Austria

Traditionally, in the summer, we send children from Ukraine for rehabilitation to Austria. Before the full-scale war, this project was only available for children in cancer remission. Since 2023, we have extended the opportunity to family-type orphanages (DBST) from the Kharkiv region.

This year, 10 children from the City Clinical Children’s Hospital No. 16 of the Kharkiv City Council, accompanied by a hematologist and a senior nurse from the hospital, arrived in the city of Ybbs. 15 children from DBST, with their mothers and two chaperones, stayed in the city of Graz.

The children and adults have already reached Austria. The journey was exciting – something new and interesting awaits ahead – but long. During the trip, there was a transfer in Lviv, with which the BF “‎Hear the Doctor,” introduced to us by psychologist Silva Tamamyan, greatly assisted. Volunteers met the train at 4 a.m. and boarded all our travelers onto the bus – thank you very much for the support!

Our children will see the beautiful Alps, breathe the fresh air of the majestic mountains and forests, relax near the Danube River, and visit UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The rehabilitation project for Ukrainian children in Austria continues thanks to the efforts of Austrian citizens who donate to this activity throughout the calendar year. Employees and volunteers of the Austrian environmental organization Global2000 actively participate in organizing this wonderful opportunity for children. They meet our children, place them in comfortable temporary accommodations, and take them on various excursions. Local communities in Austria also join the project annually – the cities of Ybbs and Graz provide comprehensive support to our children for a deeper acquaintance with the country and its traditions. And, of course, logistics and other processes to ensure the children quickly and easily reach another country and return home lie on the shoulders of our charity fund “‎Global2000 for Children of Ukraine.”

We express our immense gratitude to the entire team of kind-hearted people working on this incredible annual children’s project!

We hope the children will have a fun, informative time and forget about the war in Ukraine and the constant explosions for at least these three weeks. We will keep you updated on the project’s progress – stay tuned for new posts with the happy smiles of Ukrainian children.
