Medicine and art came together in one place in Kharkiv

On June 27, one of Kharkiv’s art spaces hosted the charity masterclass “Human Anatomy: A Medical and Artistic Perspective,” bringing together lecturers, artists, students, and everyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the human body.

The first part of the event featured lectures. Mykhailo Liutenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Human Anatomy, Clinical Anatomy, and Operative Surgery, explained the structure of the human body from a medical perspective. Alona Rudych, a lecturer in plastic anatomy at the O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, demonstrated how this knowledge helps artists create realistic depictions of the human figure 💪

The lecture was far from purely theoretical. Participants had the opportunity to literally “see anatomy” by exploring real anatomical specimens. The bravest attendees even tried on a special apron with internal organs to better understand where each organ is located in the human body.

Another highlight was the VR experience. Through virtual reality, participants explored human anatomy in an immersive way, making the learning process even more engaging.

🎨 After the theoretical session, it was time for practice. Under the guidance of artist, lecturer, and graduate of the Institute of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, Arsenii Sherstiuk, participants sketched live models. Both a male and a female model posed simultaneously, allowing everyone to apply the knowledge they had just gained.

The event was organized by Yevheniia Komissarova, who successfully brought together medical professionals, artists, and everyone eager to learn around one shared idea.

Importantly, the masterclass also had a charitable purpose. Participants were invited to support the Oncohematology Department of Kharkiv City Clinical Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 25 through voluntary donations.

As a result of the event, participants gained a deeper understanding of how the human body works, while UAH 11,531.57 was raised to support the hospital.

When knowledge is combined with the desire to help, art takes on an even deeper meaning ❤️
