Meet eight-year-old Maxymko. He is from Kramatorsk, but now lives in Lviv, Ukraine. His family can not afford to rent a separate apartment, so Maxymko spends holidays in an IDP site.
No one could have predicted that the university building would become a home for parents with children. Yet, people have settled in, and we continue to help as we can.
One of our ongoing programs is providing drinking water. In 2022, our fund delivered 12 water purification systems from Austria to Ukraine. Ten of them will be installed in IDP sites with children in the Rivne and Volyn regions. Two of them have been installed in Lviv.
Yesterday, we visited Maxymko and other residents of the university building in Lviv. Over 370 people, including 83 children, live there permanently. The children showed us a magical tap that fills cups, and subsequently their tummies, with clean water.
