Renovation of the Pediatric Unit and Charitable Deeds

City Clinical Children’s Hospital No.16 received assistance from the Global 2000 for the Children of Ukraine Fund to refurbish a unit for children deprived of parental care.

“For more than 30 years, we have collaborated with Global 2000 for the Children of Chernobyl programme. The unit’s repair is a brand-new challenge. A construction company that performed repairs in this unit was given a contract by the fund. They installed a new flooring, put down linoleum, changed the doors, installed new radiators, as well as coated the walls with coated plasterboard and painted them,” according to Maryna Kucherenko, the hospital’s director.

The construction company got involved in charity work and made a gift: it equipped the unit with a closet for storing children’s things. In addition, new equipment was purchased, including nightlights, chairs, a changing table, and closets.

The hospital received a present from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts students, who painted the walls of the newly refurbished unit.

“We are surrounded by a lot of compassionate people. They recently contributed a lot of flowers and trees, assisted in planting them, and are currently painting the new benches that we put on the hospital’s property. Together, kind people make it possible for kids to receive care and live comfortably,” continues Ms. Kucherenko.

The unit was designed for five children who are older than one month of age, although only four children are currently staying there.
